Xarıbülbül Collection
A flower that blooms only in its own soil. A gift that suits only one table.
The story of the flower
In the first days of May, on the slopes of the Jidir Plain, a flower blooms. It is a span tall and has three petals: two spread to the sides like wings, the third rises up and bows its head. From afar it looks as though a nightingale has alighted on the flower and not yet had time to fold its wings.
People named it xarıbülbül. Legend has it that a nightingale, homesick in a foreign land, sat on a thorny rose and wept; where its tears fell to the ground, this flower grew. Ever since, it has been a sign of longing, faithfulness and devotion to one's homeland.
People tried to move it. They planted it in other mountains, in other gardens, tended it and waited. It did not bloom. The Xarıbülbül blooms only in the soil of Shusha, only in that air.
For thirty years the road to those mountains stayed closed. Every May the flower bloomed again, but no one picked it, no child reached out to it, no bride wore it in her hair. Shusha was silent.
On 8 November 2020, Shusha came home. The following spring the xarıbülbül bloomed again on the Jidir Plain — this time before the eyes of its own people. That May, the «Xarıbülbül» music festival was held in Shusha again after thirty years; the mountains heard the sound of mugham once more.
That is why this flower is not just a flower to us. It is a symbol of longing, of faithfulness, of endurance, and of the homecoming that came with Victory.
The story of the box
In the centre of the lid is a xarıbülbül — carved into the walnut and covered by hand with 24-carat gold leaf. The master gives one day to a single flower. Around it winds a carved ornament recalling the borders of Karabakh carpets, and in the four corners stand fortress gates — a tribute to the stone walls of Shusha, the Ganja Gate and the Irevan Gate.
When you lift the lid, Ordubad looks out from within: the mountains of Zangezur, cypress trees standing in a row, the old town gate and a tree with a pomegranate on every branch. A nightingale sits atop the tree. It has flown from the flower of Karabakh and alighted on the pomegranate of Ordubad.
This is no coincidence. Ordubad and Shusha are two ancient towns of the same land: one on the banks of the Araz with its orchards, the other at the head of Karabakh with its fortress. One has its first fruits, the other its flower. We brought them together in one box.
The box is made of natural walnut. Walnut darkens over the years, while the gold stays as it was on the first day. Once the delicacies are gone, the box stays on the table — the flower of Karabakh and the orchard of Ordubad, together.

In Ordubad, the winter table is laid in summer. Apricots are spread out on the rooftops, mulberries are shaken onto white cloth, walnuts dry in the shade, and jam simmers over a low flame in a copper pot. Everything is kept for winter and brought out when guests arrive. The ten compartments of this box hold a share of that table.
- Two jars of jam — apricot, quince, rose petal or green walnut. Golden tea or thyme, if you prefer.
- Nuts — hand-cracked walnut kernels, hazelnuts, almonds.
- Dried fruit — sun-dried apricots, mulberries, Ordubad raisins.
- Alana and sucuq — two labour-intensive delicacies of the festive table.

8 November — Victory Day, the day Shusha was liberated. A gift given on this day speaks not on behalf of a company, but on behalf of a nation. The Xarıbülbül Collection was conceived first and foremost as a gift for this day.
For state and corporate protocol. For foreign guests and delegations — to introduce our country in a single box. For gifts presented on Victory Day, 28 May Independence Day and Novruz.
Each box contains a bilingual card: the story of the xarıbülbül flower, the return of Shusha and the origin of the delicacy in each compartment. The organisation's logo is engraved on the lid, and the boxes are delivered within Baku according to the address list.
In loving memory of our martyrs and with respect for our veterans.
